  3. Foundations • 1991: CSAB Accreditation, 2nd accredited Computer Science program in Georgia • 1998: Computer Science separated from Mathematics • 1999: Start of Georgia Tech Regional Engineering Program • Offering Computer Engineering and Civil Engineering

Foundations (cont.) • 2000: Governor Barnes starts Yamacraw Project to make Georgia a world leader in high-speed broadband technologies • AASU is one of 8 universities in the state to participate in the project • Yamacraw project activities at AASU are housed in the Department of Computer Science • 2001: USG approves Bachelor of Information Technology and MS in CS

Foundations (cont.) • 2002: USG Approves creation of School of Computing with CS, IT, and Engineering Studies • 2003: Mechanical and Electrical Engineering added to GTREP offerings • 2004: USG Approves WebBSIT – online BS in IT offered by consortium of USG institutions • 2006: SOC and AASU hire director of Cyber and Homeland Security Institute • CRADA with FLETC

Degrees Offered • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science • Master of Science in Computer Science • Bachelor of Information Technology • A two-year Engineering Studies Program in collaboration with GTREP (the Georgia Tech Regional Engineering Program) and RETP (the Regent's Engineering Transfer Program). • WebBSIT, a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology degree offered online • Information Technology (ITEC) certificates
