Remember… FORCE • The push or pull of an object
Task… • You will observe how your car moves, when a force is applied.
Materials • In your bucket you need to get the: • String, 2 paper clips, cup of weights, book end, car • You will use these materials to create a falling weight system.
Directions • You need to clear off your group area (long, flat surface) • Place the bookend at one end of the table • On the front of the car, attach one side of the string with the paper clip. • Place the free side of the string with a paper clip on it through the hole in the bookend.
Follow the directions on your hand out to complete the rest of the tasks. • Work together to complete this activity accurately.
Think about these… • When did you discover your vehicle began to move? • What caused your vehicle to move? • Did your vehicle move differently when you changed the weight? • What made the vehicle stop moving each time? • For each different weight you used, how would you describe the motion of the vehicle?
