Return to the engine, grasp the hose within one foot of the next coupling.
Pull the coupling and hose back 50 feet and set the coupling down on the side of the nozzle opposite the fire
Continue until sufficient hose to reach the objective is pulled.
Note: As each length is pulled, call out the amount so far: “I’ve got 50”; “I’ve got 100”; etc.
In this operation “neatness counts!” The pulls should be evenly spaced and parallel. This makes pulling or folding the hose much easier.
Nozzle person placed nozzle across chest and down back and places loops (one or two) over forearm.
Assisting firefighters place loops over forearms (four maximum).
Advance to fire dropping loops nearest engine as they tighten.
Keypoint: When picking up loops, make sure couplings come off the ground. If not, they will hang up on any obstruction encountered.
When the fire is reached, flake out hose, remove kinks and call for water
