PURPOSE Students will: • complete a quick lab for displaying safety and sanitation practices and following directions
RESEARCH EQUIPMENT and INGREDIENTS • 1 large mug, microwave safe • Ingredients for cake (see below) • VANILLA • 4 TABLESPOONS FLOUR • 1 EGG • 4 TABLESPOONS SUGAR • 3 TABLESPOONS MILK • 1/8 TEASPOON SALT • 3 TABLESPOONS OIL • ¼ TEASPOON VANILLA
ADD ALL DRY INGREDIENTS TOGETHER IN A MUG. MIX WELL (A FORK WORKS GREAT FOR MIXING). • ADD THE EGG, MILK, OIL AND VANILLA TO THE DRY INGREDIENTS AND STIR WELL TO MIX. • PLACE THE MUG INTO THE MICROWAVE AND COOK FOR 3 MINUTES ON HIGH. CAKE WILL RISE ABOVE THE MUG. DON’T BE ALARMED. • DO NOT OPEN THE MICROWAVE DOOR. • LET THE CAKE REST FOR 3 MINUTES AFTER THE COOKING TIME. • REMOVE FROM THE MICROWAVE AND TIP OUT OF THE MUG ONTO A PLATE, SLICE AND ENJOY. OPTIONAL 2 TABLESPOONS COCOA POWDER 3TABLESPOONS CHOCOLATE CHIPS
