1. Clear ideas • Aberration is a big limitation • The maximum possible of tolerance is needed • Necessity of a geometric simplified model to estimate tolerances • Aspheric lens are needed • Which options offer the market • It’s assumed that maybe we must do something custom, but if it’s possible with commercial devices, much better.
2. Simplified model • Only geometrical • Not take into account the light diffraction of the lens.
2. Options • 1) Thorlabs Solution: • Aspheric lens pair • Housing prepared for custom SMA adapter. • Posibility of changing the second lens to obtain higher distance tolerances. • * Possible problems with Coating & Epoxy!
2. Options • 2) LightPath Solution • 1.Single Lens • GelTech Lens (using a Single lens) • Maybe they can build custom housing for us. • MIP: Mold-In-PlaceTechnology without epoxy. • 2.Double Lens • Collimator + Accesory: Commercial
2. Options • 3. Let’s compare them: • In terms of coupling Eficency and tolerance: • Best Coupling: 60% Focuser • Maybe we could change the lens of a commercial collimator. • Best tolerance margin: Double pattern • Commercial collimator should work as it is with a custom “Quick to build” accessory.
2. Options • 3. Let’s compare them: • In terms of coupling Eficency and tolerance:
2. Options • 3. Let’s compare them: • Receiver’s sensibility ~ -26/-30 dBm • Double Pattern and focuser are able to work with the worst receiver properly.
