Outline • Project overview • Block diagram • Design challenges • Individual contributions • Project demonstration • Questions / discussion
Project Overview 3MS: Mobile Multi-Point Monitoring System Three main features: • Proximity detection and display • Base and peripheral distance alerts • Peripheral wristband tamper detection Inspired by a baby monitor and virtual leash.
Block Diagram Base Control
Block Diagram Peripheral Module
Design Challenges • Schematic and PCB Design errors • Battery life • Datasheet errors and/or misunderstandings • Audio transmission
Individual Contributions • Team Leader – Alex Buschkoetter • Team Member 2 – Alex Glenn • Team Member 3 – Kimberly Soong • Team Member 4 – Petra Mustafa
Team Leader – Alex B. • Schematic • PCB Design • Hardware debugging • Soldering and trace corrections
Member 2 – Alex G. • PCB Layout and Trace debugging • Software design and implementation
Member 3 – Kimberly S. • Power • Soldering • Hardware debugging
Member 4 – Petra M. • Schematic • PCB Design and Layout • Host board • Peripheral board • 4 layers • Packaging • AutoCAD
Project Demonstration • An ability to detect proximity using RSSI • An ability to detect and report the violation of dynamically specified distance thresholds on all devices • An ability to monitor and display remaining battery life • An ability to detect and report peripheral tampering • An ability to interface to an LCD to control and monitor the device
