  1. 3rd Annual National Nāsirāt Workshop February 24th, 2013

  2. Tilawat –e- Qur’an Surah Luqman Verses 14-15 & 18-20

  3. Tilawat

  4. Translation of Surah LuqmanVerses 14-15 14. Andremember when Luqman said to his son while exhorting him, ‘O my dear son! associate not partners with Allah. Surely, associating partners with God is a grievous wrong.’ 15. And We have enjoined on man concerning his parents — his mother bears him in weakness upon weakness, and his weaning takes two years — ‘Give thanks to Me and to thy parents. Unto Me is the final return.

  5. Translation of Surah LuqmanVerses 18-20 18. ‘O my dear son! observe Prayer, and enjoin good, and forbid evil, and endure patiently whatever may befall thee. Surely this is of those matters which require firm resolve. 19. ‘And turn not thy cheek away from men in pride nor walk in the earth haughtily; Surely, Allah loves not any arrogant boaster. 20. ‘And walk thou at a moderate pace, and lower thy voice; verily, the most disagreeable of voices is the voice of the donkey.’

  6. Commentary Hadhrat Luqmanas was a pious man of Allah. The Holy Qur’an has preserved the precious advice that he offered his son:  1. Avoid Shirk (Associating partners with Allah)2.  Be mindful of the rights of his parents on him3.  Allah's is All powerful,  Mighty.4. Be regular in offering prayers (on time and with the best possible performance)5.  Guide people towards good, and forbid them from doing evil

  7. Commentary… continued 6. Have patience7. Avoid Arrogance(Takkabur)8. Be moderate in attitude 9. Be humble in walking and talking 10. Don’t be harsh when you speak. Shouting does not win hearts, rather, it will offend and alienate people

  8. I solemnly promise that I shall always keep myself ready to serve Islam, my nation and my country. I shall always adhere to truth and shall always be prepared to make every sacrifice for the perpetuation of the Ahmadiyya Khilafat. Inshallah. Nasirat Pledge

  9. Hadith Criteria of A True Muslim A true Muslim is he who keeps protected other Muslims from his tongue and hands. (Bukhari)

  10. Commentary In order to protect another Muslim from one’s tongue, we must not backbite, insult or put down the other person or accuse him or her unjustly. And in order to protect another Muslim from one’s hand, we have to make sure that we do not physically fight with another Muslim. This hadith is very important as it focuses on how we can become better Muslims by making sure that we don’t hurt another Muslim by saying or doing anything harmful.

  11. Hadith: Most Accepted Prayer of Forgiveness

  12. Translation O Allah! You are my Lord. There is none worthy of worship except You. You created me and I am Your servant. And I am as steadfast as I can be on (my) covenant with You and on (my) promise to You. I see Your protection from the evil of my actions. I acknowledge Your bounties and I admit my sins. Hence, forgive me please, for there is certainly none who can forgive, except You.

  13. Commentary The Holy Prophet sasaid that whosoever says this prayer in the morning or in the evening, and then he dies in the same day or same night, he will be admitted to paradise.

  14. Introduction To the Workshop

  15. Overview The workshop has the following parts: • Discussing the challenges that are being faced by the youth today • Learning the Islamic Values • Confidence as the Key to implement Values into our lives • Actions: don't just understand it- live it! Your words and actions should reflect it!

  16. A Story of Choice… There was a man who was a shoe salesman in New York City and he was doing really well with his business. So he decided to branch out and open a factory in a small village in Africa. He sent all his developers and engineers over there and everything was going as scheduled. One day the Shoe Salesman wanted to see how the factory was doing. He arrived in Africa and set out for the village. When he arrived he noticed that nobody in the village wore shoes! Stunned, the man called back to New York City and stated, “You’re never going to believe this, nobody around here wears shoes. Cancel the orders!!!”

  17. A Story of Choice… Continued Another man who was a shoe salesman in Los Angeles decided to branch out and open a factory in a small village in South America. He sent all his developers and engineers over there and everything was going as scheduled. One day the shoe salesman wanted to see how the factory was doing and set out for South America. When he arrived, he noticed that nobody in the village wore shoes! Stunned, the man called back to Los Angeles and stated, “You’re never going to believe this, nobody around here wears shoes. Double the orders!!!”

  18. Group Discussions on Challenges

  19. Islamic Values

  20. Confidence

  21. Team Building 7-10:Barnyard Game Each nasirah will be assigned an animal. Whisper it in their ear and tell them not to tell anyone what animal they are. They have to find everyone else with the same animal that they have. They do this by making the animal sounds and actions. (They may NOT talk). Give them a while, and when it seems like they've all found their groups, let them stop. You can have each group hold hands once they've found their group, first group finished wins chocolates!

  22. Team Building: 11-13Word Game Everyone stands in a circle. Player A says a food item and then player B has to say another food item that ends in the last letter of the food item that was said. So for example, Player A says Apple, Player B must say a food item that starts with an E..so eggs…Player C must say a food item that starts with an S and so on.. They only have a few seconds to say the next word. You can have a buzzer or a bell that the person who is running the game will have, if they take too long to say a word, ring the buzzer and they have to step out of the circle (out of the game). The fun is in the time they have to say the next word. If you give them too much time, it won’t be fun.

  23. Team Building 14-15 ZIG ZAG ZOP Everyone is in a circle. One person starts by saying, "zig" and looking at another person. That person now says, "zag" while looking at another person. Now the third person says, "zop" while looking at another person and pointing to them with a fully extended arm. Only "zop" has the arm motion. If a person moves their arm on "zig" or "zag" he/she is out and must sit down. If a person does not move their arm on "zop" he/she is out and must sit down. Advanced-- Speed it up. If a person hesitates, he/she is out.
