What’s In a Name?Othello, Act I • On one half of the poster, find one positive reference to Othello from Act I and write/draw all of its connotations/meanings/ visuals. • On the other half of the poster, find one negative reference to Othello from Act I and write/draw all of its connotations/meanings/ visuals. • Include line numbers when using direct quotes. • On the back of the poster, answer the question:Why does Shakespeare conceal Othello’s name by using racial slander throughout act I? What does it reveal about the characters? What does it reveal about the world in which Othello lives? Avoid SUPERFICIAL answers. THINK about it!
