  1. ANTE TODO • In Spanish, as in English, the object of a preposition is the noun or pronoun that follows a preposition. Observe the following diagram. PREPOSITION NOUN PREPOSITION PRONOUN     La sopa es para Alicia y para él.

  2. These are some common prepositions with their basic meanings: • en (in, at, into, on) • a (to, at, onto) • para (for) • por (for) • de (from, of) • entre (between) • con (with) • sin (without) • según (according to)

  3. Prepositional pronouns

  4. Note that, except for mí and ti,these pronouns are the same as the subject pronouns. • The preposition con combines with mí and ti to form conmigoand contigo, respectively. —¿Quieres venir conmigo a Concepción? —Do you want to come with me to Concepción? —Sí, gracias, me gustaría ir contigo. —Yes, thanks, I would like to go with you.

  5. ¡ATENCIÓN! • Mí(me) has an accent mark to distinguish it from the possessive adjective mi(my).

  6. Some prepositions such as entre and segúnare exceptions, and are followed by tú and yo instead of ti and mí. Segúntú, la Navidad es el mejor día de fiesta. According to you, Christmas is the best holiday. Papá va a sentarse entre tú y yo. Dad is going to sit between you and me.
