  2. Thanksgiving …It is a time….to say thank you… the day America sets aside for family, for remembrance…

  3. The first Thanksgiving celebration held in America occurred in 1619 • The next recorded celebration is also very famous, Plymouth, Massachusetts, 1621 • The next “Thanksgiving” celebration did not occur until 1623

  4. In 1688 the General Court tried to bring some order to the celebration by declaring November 25 • The first national celebration of Thanksgiving occurred in 1777.

  5. …Thanksgiving Becomes an Official Holiday... In 1941, Thanksgiving was finally sanctioned by Congress as a legal holiday, as the fourth Thursday in November

  6. It should be noted that while Thanksgiving has become a holiday deeply associated with America, there have been numerous “harvest”, autumn, and “thanksgiving” throughout including Grecian, Roman, Egyptian celebration.

  7. Wild Turkeys, native to the eastern United States were a part of the first Thanksgiving feast and since then, turkeys have remain an important Thanksgiving symbol
