American English and British English The differences between American English and British English How come the differences: 1.At first the language in Britain and America was the same. 2.In 1776 America became an independent country.The language began to change.The language in America stayed the same,while the language in England changed. 3.At the same time, British English and the American English stared borrowing words from other languages, ending up with different words. 4.In 1828 Noah Webster published the first American dictionary. And he changed the spelling of some words.

  12. What will you do if people don’t understand you? 1.Saying something one or two more times, slowly, often helps. 2.Maybe you are not pronouncing the word right. Try changing sounds. 3.Try to say the same thing but use different words. 4.If you don’t know the exact word for an object, you can give a description of what it looks like. 5.Replace difficult words with simple ones.
