madness • The war killed many people and achieved little. It was madness. • crazy times; chaotic
massacre • Hundreds of people were killed in the massacre. • mass killings (when many people died from an attack)
negotiate • The two presidents must negotiate to end the war between their countries. • meet and discuss a problem
peace • People were happy when the war was over and there was peace again. • no war; no fighting
suffering • War causes a lot of pain and suffering for many people. • difficult, hard times
