The King’s Power to Heal • 29 And immediately after they came out of the synagogue, they went into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. 30 Now Simon’s mother-in-law was lying sick with a fever; and immediately they spoke to Jesus about her. 31 And He went to her and raised her up, taking her by the hand, and the fever left her, and she waited on them. (Mark 1:29-31)

The King’s Power to Heal • 32 When evening came, after the sun had set, they began bringing to Him all who were ill and those who were demon-possessed. 33 And the whole city had gathered at the door. 34 And He healed many who were ill with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and He was not permitting the demons to speak, because they knew who He was. (Mark 1:32-34)

Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon the son of John; you shall be called Cephas” (which is translated Peter). (John 1:42)

  9. A Sick Mother-In-Law • 30 Now Simon’s mother-in-law was lying sick with a fever; and immediately they spoke to Jesus about her. (Mark 1:30) • Then He [Jesus] got up and left the synagogue, and entered Simon’s home. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked Him to help her. (Luke 4:38)

  10. The Compassionate King • 30 Now Simon’s mother-in-law was lying sick with a fever; and immediately they spoke to Jesus about her. 31 And He went to her and raised her up, taking her by the hand, and the fever left her, and she waited on them. (Mark 1:30-31)

  12. Saved to Serve • And He went to her and raised her up, taking her by the hand, and the fever left her, and she waited [diakoneō] on them. (Mark 1:31) • Sitting down, Jesus called the twelve and said to them, “If anyone wants to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all.” (Mark 9:35)

Saved to Serve • 42 Calling them to Himself, Jesus said to them, “You know that those who are recognized as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them; and their great men exercise authority over them. 43 But it is not this way among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant; 44 and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be slave of all. 45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:42-45)

  14. The Real Healing • 20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables Him to subject all things to himself. (Philippians 3:20-21)

The Real Healing • 39 When the centurion, who was standing right in front of Him, saw the way He breathed His last, he said, “Truly this man was the Son of God!” 40 There were also some women looking on from a distance, among whom were Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the Less and Joses, and Salome. 41 When He was in Galilee, they used to follow Him and minister [diakoneō] to Him; and there were many other women who came up with Him to Jerusalem. (Mark 15:39-41)

Healing the City • 31 And He went to her and raised her up, taking her by the hand, and the fever left her, and she waited on them. 32 When evening came, after the sun had set, they began bringing to Him all who were ill and those who were demon-possessed. 33 And the whole city had gathered at the door. 34 And He healed many who were ill with various diseases… (Mark 1:31-34)

  17. Healing the City • When evening came, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed; and He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were ill. (Matthew 8:16)

  18. Casting Out Demons • 33 And the whole city had gathered at the door. 34 And He healed many who were ill with various diseases and cast out many demons; and He was not permitting the demons to speak, because they knew who He was. (Mark 1:33-34)

  19. Late Night • In the early morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went away to a secluded place, and was praying there. (Mark 1:35)

  20. Spiritual Healing • 24 He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; FOR BY HIS WOUNDS YOU WERE HEALED [Isaiah 53:5]. 25 For you were continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls. (1 Peter 2:24-25)

  21. Eternally Healed • 1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away… 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, 4 and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.” (Revelation 21:1, 3-4)

  22. Eternally Healed • 5 And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” And He said, “Write, for these words are faithful and true.” (Revelation 21:5)
