Daniel tells the story no one sees with the human eye. • He takes us behind the scenes and shows us God at work all along. • He lets us see the greatness of God over the most powerful forces on earth. • His story encouraged those in exile back then and encourages us today to trust the sovereignty of God. • We are then empowered to live holy in a hostile world.

Daniel – God is my Judge • Belteshazzar –May a god protect his life or a goddess protect the king. • Hananiah –Yah has been gracious • Shadrach -Possibly a form of Marduk a Babylonian god • Mishael – Who is what God is? • Meshach – a name of an god in Babylon • Azariah – Yah is my help • Abednego – (probably) Servant of Nabu

  4. Daniel’s later decisions demonstrated his previous priorities. • Although nobility he lived pleasing to God • Daniel was affected by the unrighteousness of the nation. • God was behind it all.
