Before the ban applied in 1998, this photo was possible. However, it has been ten years since then, and we got used to not see this picture anymore. According to decisions of national courts this view is against laicism.
By the February of 1998 the applications were photographed as such:
From Imam-Hatip Highschools’ students protest (They chained them to the school entrance)
However, their chains could not protect them from the application.
From the parliament Merve Kavakci, at the first hours in the parliament. She was protested and was not allowed to be deputy although she was elected.
From a hospital Medine Bircan was 71 year old cancer patient. She were taken to the hospital but according to new regulations her photo on the papers were not allowed. At the same day she got the new papers with her new photo she was died. The regulation was changed after her death.
