THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF EXTREMELY GIFTED PEOPLE IN THE WORLD WHO HAVE OUTSTANDING CAREERS. SOME OF THEM YOU ALREADY TALKED ABOUT … MOHAMMAD ALI MIKA IMMONEN JOHN RONALD TOLKIEN ALBERT EINSTEIN JULIA ROBERTS HEATH LEDGER KOBE BRIANT CHRISTIANO RONALDO STEVEN SEAGAL ETC.
BUT HAVE YOU EVER BEEN ASKED… “IF YOU COULD BE REALLY GIFTED, WHICH FIELD WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE TALENTED AT?”
WHAT WOULD BE YOUR ANSWER? • 1. • 2. • 3. • 4. • 5. • 6.
WHEN I WAS YOUNG, I STUDIED MUSIC AND I WANTED TO BE GIFTED IN MUSIC …I THOUGHT… IT WOULD BE PERFECT TO HAVE A SMOOTH BUT POWERFUL VOICE OF CELIN DION; IT WOULD BE PERFECT TO PLAY THE PIANO AS WELL AS THE YOUNG JAPANESE WORLD-FAMOUS PIANIST LAND LANG; IT WOULD BE PERFECT TO HAVE AS MANY SIMPLE BUT DEEP MUSIC THOUGHTS AS JAAN TÄTTE HAS; IT WOULD BE PERFECT TO LOOK AS STYLISH AND SING AS WELL AS BARBARA STREISAND.
BUT STILL, THERE IS ONE PERSON IN THE WORLD … WHO HAS A VOICE OF THE GOLDEN VINERY AND THE HEART OF THE REAL ITALIAN
THIS MAN IS ANDREA BOCCELLI
THE MAN WITH THE MOST BEAUTIFUL VOICE IN THE WORLD • THE MAN WHOSE CONCERTS ARE SOLD OUT WITHIN MINUTES • THE MAN WITH NO EYESIGHT
He is an Italianoperatic poptenor and a classical crossover singer who has also performed in operas.
He was born on 22 September 1958 in Italy, in Toscana, 40 kilometres from Pisa, on a family farm where they grew grapes and made Boccelli wine. • He had problems with his eye sight and he was diagnosed glaucoma. It is a nerve desease. • After the football match, when he was hit by the ball, he lost his eyesight completely. He was 12 then. Since then he has been completely blind.
As a young boy, Bocelli showed a great passion for music. His mother, Edi, has said that music was the only thing that would comfort him. At the age of six he started piano lessons before also learning to play the flute, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, harp, guitar and drums. At the age of 14 he won his first song competition in Italy. He was always asked to sing to his relatives, so the singing career was almost decided for him. In 1992, Italian rock star Zucchero held auditions for tenors to make a tape with him of the song Miserere. He wanted to send it to Italian tenor Luciano Pavarotti. After hearing Bocelli on tape, Luciano Pavarotti urged Zucchero to use Bocelli instead of him, saying, "Thank you for writing such a wonderful song. Yet you do not need me to sing it. Let Andrea sing Miserere with you, for there is no one finer”. The tape was from Caterina Caselli Sugar, who had discovered Bocelli and who believed in him. And she was right. It was the beginning of A. Boccelli’s career.
To date, he has recorded seven complete operas (La bohème, Tosca, Il trovatore, Werther, Pagliacci, Cavalleria rusticana and Carmen) in addition to various classical and pop albums. • He has sold over 65 million albums worldwide which makes him the BIGGEST SELLING TENOR OF ALL TIME, and the biggest selling classical soloist of all time (even bigger than Pavarotti who sold more albums with The Three Tenors but not as a soloist). • He has performed on the most famous and highest stages in the world in front of all kinds of celebrities. He has sang with the best classical and pop singers in the world and won the most prestigious music awards.
PERSONAL LIFE • Bocelli met his first wife Enrica, with whom he had two children, while singing at piano bars early in his career. • They were married on 27 June 1992. • They have two sons, Amos and Matteo. • The couple divorced in 2002. • Since then, he met his fiancée to be, Veronica Berti, but he doesn't plan to get married again due to being Catholic. The couple lives in Forte dei Marmi in a 19th centuryVilla (former hotel) on the beach and Bocelli's ex-wife and his two sons live in the couple's previous residence in the same comune near Pisa.
Some facts about A.Boccelli: • Bocelli's father, Sandro Bocelli, died on 30 April 2000. His mother wanted him to honour his commitments and so he sang for the Pope in Rome on 1 May and immediately returned home for the funeral. • At the 5 July Andrea Bocelli's Statue of Liberty Concert was filmed- Bocelli dedicated the song Sogno to the memory of his father. • A section of the beach and road near the Italian Adriatic coast, was named after Bocelli on 11 August 2003. • In 2006, Bocelli influenced the municipality of Lajatico (his home village) to build an outdoor theatre, the "Teatro del Silenzio“. Bocelli performed for one night only. One night every July the theatre will be opened for performances. The rest of the time it will be silent.. Since the opening he has sung on 27 July 2006, 5 July 2007 and 20 July 2008, and has agreed to perform at least two more, in July 2009 and 2010. • He performed in Estonia too, in Tallinn. He sang with Anneli Peebo and other singers.
