SUMMARY OF CHANGES • Minimum core-course GPA of 2.30 required • Slight change in the GPA/test-score index (sliding scale) • Ten core courses required before the beginning of senior year
NCAA Division I Qualifier: Requirements for Athletics Aid, Practice andCompetition (New) • Core-course progression • Must complete 10 core courses before seventh semester of high school (e.g., senior year) • Of the 10 courses completed, seven must be in the area of English, math, or science • These 10 courses become “locked in” for the purpose of GPA calculation • A repeat of any of the “locked in” courses will not be used if taken after the seventh semester begins

PSAT & ACT ASPIRE • Great practice for the real exam • Students should take it between 10th – 11th grade. • The PSAT exam is only given once a year: OCTOBER 18, 2014 • Use ‘My College QuickStart’ - To understand PSAT • 11th grade students (ONLY) can be designated as ‘National Merit Scholars’ • ACT ASPIRE Assessment– October 1, 2014
REVISED changes to the SAT (Class of 2017 – beyond) • Score is based out of 1600 --- 800 for Math; 800 for Evidence-Based Reading and Writing. Optional ESSAY will receive a separate score • Covers Math & Reading Comprehension (Only) • Calculator no longer permitted for all math sections • Available digitally and in print
