  1. Power Point Over Chapter 2 Ryan Bedinghaus

  2. Section 1 • Graphing Relations- you can graph an ordered pair in the coordinate plane. An ordered pair (x,y) corresponds on the graph. • A relation is a set of ordered pairs. • The domain of a relation is the set of all first ordered pairs • The range is the set of all second ordered pairs

  3. Section 2 • Linear Equation- the variable can have no exponents greater than one, the variable cannot be multiplied together, the variable cannot be in the denominator, and the variable cannot be under a radical

  4. Section 2 Cont. • Standard Form- Ax + By= C • A cannot be negative and B and C cannot both be 0 • Y=3x-10 • Move the x by subtracting 3x from both sides. • -3x+y=c • A cannot be negative so you multiply the equation by -1 • 3x-y=c. • The signs change when you multiply the equation by -1

  5. Section 3 • X and Y intercept • X intercept is the value of x when y is 0 • Y intercept is the value of y when x is 0 • 2x-4y=12 • Put 0 in for y and you get 2x=12 • Divide 2 on both sides and you get x=6 • Do the same for y • Put 0 in for x and you get -4y=12 • Divide both sides by -4 and you get y=-3 • Your ordered pair is ( 6, -4 )
