Athletic Department Philosophies • TRUST FAMILY BELIEVE HAWKS • Hawk PRIDE Perseverance, Respect, Intensity, Discipline, Enthusiasm • 3 Questions we work hard to answer “YES” to: Can I trust you? Are you committed to excellence? Do you care about me as a person?
How will my child stay eligible? • ACADEMIC RESPONSIBILITY • Pass all classes • “F” at the end of the grading period = 30 day suspension • “I” at the end of the grading period = immediate suspension until “I” is changed to a grade – 2 week window • Scholarship Rule Starting Date: 2019-20 • GOOD CONDUCT – Be responsible and accountable • First Offense – One third of playing dates, One sixth if student self reports • Second Offense – Two thirds of playing dates, no self report, possible completion of approved school treatment program • Third Offense – One calendar year
How will my child stay eligible? • ATTENDANCE - Be in school and be on time • Coaches receive daily reports. If the student is UNEXCUSED or SICK they will not practice that day. If this is on a game day they will not play unless they visit with me about their options. • Please give us a heads up on Dr. Appointments before the appointment happens if at all possible. • Jen Corbelli, our attendance clerk and I communicate daily. When calling in your child, tell Jen, Sarah, or Mary what sport or activity your child is involved in so we can get that information to their coach asap.
Contacting a Coach…Conflict Management that works • The “TEAM” needs your “POSITIVE” support at home, as well as at the contest. If you are negative your son or daughter will bring that attitude with them to the field and we cannot tolerate that in our programs. If there are questions with your coaches decisions, we urge YOUR SON OR DAUGHTERto contact their head coach or position coach immediately. • OUR COACHES DO NOT PENALIZE A KID BECAUSE OF A DESIRE TO SEEK ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS! • If your son or daughter cannot work out the problem than we encourage that the parents get involved. If this is the case, set up an appointment with the coach to discuss the matter, bring your child to the meeting. • Most of the time conflict management can be taken care of in these first two steps, if not, please feel free to contact the Activities Director and we will bring everyone together to discuss.
Contacting a Coach…Conflict Management that works (cont.) • I do not expect things to go perfectly at all times, but using these guidelines should help. • Please think about what your question is before making a call. If it ultimately has to do with playing time, game strategies, or other players, keep the question may not be appropriate. • Meetings will not take place before or after a game as emotions are very high during these times. Give it some time. “24 Hour Rule” should be practiced in these situations. • Adult conversations when discussing the matter, let’s respect the “hat” each other wears. • Every decision that a coach makes is made for the benefit of the team based on practice, ability, attitude, and chemistry.

Encourage them to be in as many activities as they can handle. • Athletic Enhancement will always be part of our culture at SV and AHS. Our weight room is open tonight for you to tour, we encourage you to see the opportunity your child has to maximize their potential before, during, and after school.
THINGS TO REMEMBER • Athletes are competitive on a year round basis • School Sports, Club Sports, Camps, Overlapping seasons • Injury Prevention needs to be a YEAR-ROUND concept • Done with in-season and out of season strength training, nutrition, hydration, warm up and cool down • I am here year-round for the student-athletes to help them stay healthy • Healthy athletes = Success on the field of competition • Contact me with any questions
Never seen it happen…….. An official will never change their “call” regardless of how much you disagree. Your conduct counts!! Fans that understand the flow of the game counter rants and negativity with positive comments or cheers to reestablish positive energy that will help the team move past a questionable call.
