Way Back When • The US Government Printing Office’s core mission, Keeping America Informed, dates to 1813 when Congress determined the need to make information regarding the work of the 3 branches of government available to all Americans. • Gather, catalog, produce, provide and preserve publishedinformation in all formats
Today • The FDsys will be a world class system for managing and preserving access to Federal documents that are within the scope of the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP). • Objectives: • To have a complete authoritative source For Authentic Information. • To have a trusted digital repository providing permanent preservation for public access. • To have a complete authoritative source of master material for dissemination. • To have the flexibility to expand beyond text to include other future formats such Rich Media.
