Creating a smart city / Energy : IssyGrid • Description • The first district smart grid in France • Initiated in 2011 by a group of businesses located in the community and expanded to other companies. • Partners : • Big Businesses : Bouygues Immobilier, Alstom, Bouygues Energie et services, Bouygues Telecom, EDF, ERDF, Microsoft, Schneider Electric, Steria, Total. • Local Start up : Embix, Navidis, Sevil , Ijenko • Schools : Strate College (Sèvres) • Functioning : The deployment process will be implemented in three stages • 1. Energy consumption will be measured for all types of use, including: office, home, business, public lighting and electric vehicle recharging stations2. Installation of solar panels, co-generation units and other energy production resources and other energy storage devices3. Production, consumption and storage systems will be shared and managed as a whole in order to identify areas of energy optimization

Creating a smart city / Transportation : Autolib • Description • The first public service with electric vehicles to be developed in a large European metropolis, founded in 2011 • Governance : public private partnership • Partners : • Ville de Paris • Bolloré • BlueCar • Paninfarina • Batscap (Battery) • 65,000 registered subscribers (feb 2013) • The 3000 cars planned = reduction in private vehicles estimated to be around 22,500, • Functioning : Subscribe > Rent > Drive > Share • Simple process for subscription in the street or online (driving license + ID + credit card) • 1750 self service cars available 24/7 in 4000 charging points with the option to book a car or a parking space for free • Service available in Paris and 45 surrounding communities

Creating a smart city / Education : HEC MOOC • Description • First French Business School to launch MOOC • For HEC Paris, it is an extension of its educational content on iTunes U (2 million downloads in three years). • Partners • HEC • Ministry of Higher Education & Research • Included in a national program « France université numérique »  thats aims at providing « 100% students with quality online courses in 2017 » • Functioning • Enlisting (free of charge) • Watching videos (8-12 min) posted every week, and free debate online with the Professor once a week • Evaluation quizz and exercice on the previous lesson each week, final quizz in the last video • Langage : French or English • Diploma / certification given by the Professor after an exam.

Developping ICT Businesses / Incubation : Halle Freyssinet • Description • The larger incubator in the world : 1000 startups • 30 000m² • Opening : 2016 • Shared services (3D printing…) • Partners : • Ville de Paris • Private Consortium (around Free) • Caisse des Dépôts (Etat) • Goals • Building a storefront for digital activities in Paris • Creating a favorable environment for the development of start-up : private spaces, coworking spaces, fablab, large auditorium, meeting rooms, large work spaces, huge bar restaurant open 24h/24

Developping Smart City Businesses / Paris Region Lab • Description • Public body which aims to organize the testing of innovative solutions in the Paris region • Partners : • Ville de Paris • Ile-de-France Region • Goals • Supporting public administrations in their innovation efforts (looking for partners, writing calls for projects, project selection, seeking funding) • Supporting firms seeking to in vivo experiments of their solutions : Roads, buildings , municipal facilities , parks ... are transformed into incubators for a bottom-up innovation . Users become co-designers • Examples : • 40 projects selected under the call “Intelligent urban furniture” (6 months to 1 year test) • 30 projects selected under the call “ Green Innovative projects” . Prototypes will be tested in public spaces and buildings , for a period up to 3 years
