We should be planning every day by incorporating: Specific content (KDIs) Children’s interests Children’s developmental abilities Classroom materials Intentional Planning
Planning Process Start with Specific Observations • Look for: • Activities and materials that children choose • How children work with the materials • How children interact with other children and adults Plan by incorporating: • Specific content areas (key developmental indicators) • Children’s developmental abilities • Children’s interests • Classroom materials Planning Elements • Plan daily, as a team. • Keep planning forms simple, based on your daily routine. • Use anecdotes to assess children’s interest and abilities.

Using Information from Observations for Lesson Planning As you plan, ask yourself these three questions: • What did I see children doing today? • What do their actions tell me about them? • Their development level? • Their interests? • How can I provide materials and interact with children to support their learning?
