From the RC 14001 Standard • The organization shall identify and plan those operations that are associatedwith the identified significant EHSS aspects consistent with its EHSS policy, objectives and targets, in order to ensure that they are carried out under specified conditions, by • c) establishing, implementing and maintaining procedures related to theidentified significant EHSS aspects of goods and services used by the organization and communicating applicable procedures and requirements to suppliers, including contractors. The organization shall establish and maintain: h) commensurate with risk, systems to qualify and periodically review carriers, suppliers, distributors, customers, contractors and third-party providers based on Responsible Care or other health, safety, security and environmental performance criteria.

SQAS in the Gulf Region • is not in the Gulf. • In 2012 SABIC initiated assessments of its Chemicals’ carriers in Saudi Arabia using the European SQAS scheme with European assessors. • The assessments with the discussion and the improvement plans are SABIC’s RC effort for the local overland supply chain.

Introduction • SQAS is a tool to assess the Quality, Safety and Environmental management systems of Logistic Service Providers • in a uniform manner • by independent assessors • using a standardized questionnaire • thereby avoiding multiple assessments by individual chemical companies • while maintaining individual evaluation capability. • An SQAS assessment by an independent assessor does not lead to a certificate but results in a detailed factual report,
