Purpose? I think part of the purpose is to try and show that the earth is delicate, and cutting down trees for example can harm the earth.
Point of view? The point of view is from the photographer.
Who s the audience? The audience is everybody who sees this advertisement.
Logical appeal? (Logos) It Is obvious that you cannot live without healthy lungs, so this image is trying to show if we keep harming the earth, there will be more and more damage to the earth.
Ethical appeal? (Ethos) This image comes from the WWF organization so it is credible.
Emotional appeal? (pathos) I think that the emotional appeal is sadness, because nobody likes to see things being harmed or destroyed, and that is what this image is showing.
Does omitting the words change the meaning? No, because you can still tell the shape of the trees, and you can tell where part of the trees have died.
