  3. Building on the Current Foundation SWIFT Available since Sept 2001 350+ participating libraries No specific ILS software requirements Uses ISO ILL and Z39.50 standards

Next Steps New Strategic Plan - Objective 6A A single locator system with access to all Colorado library holdings, and the functionality for patrons to request materials, and the ability for libraries to share standardized catalog records will be developed and implemented (i.e. federated locator system).

Demonstration Project – Goals Staff efficiency improvement with merging of circulation and ILL activities Request for a lender becomes a hold in the local ILS Receiving a request by a borrower creates the circulation record and hold for the library patron Demonstrate that NCIP works with libraries on different ILS systems – no need for single ILS system

  15. Other Initiatives • Exploring requesting across state boundaries • Testing completed with Wyoming • Beginning testing with Kansas • Exploring connecting courier across state boundaries
