  2. Fate • Whatever happens in your life is predetermined and the events that happen are beyond your control. “When the stars align…” GD

Text-to-Text Connection: Oedipus Rex • The role of fate in Oedipus Rex is that the Greeks believed fate should be accepted because there’s nothing you can do to change it. • In this story, fate was Oedipus’s downfall. He killed his father, slept with his mother, and had children that turned out to be his siblings at the same time. How is that not fate? GA

  4. Text-to-Text Connection: Romeo and Juliet • Romeo and Juliet’s families are enemies and they fall in love. They run away so they can be together and end up committing suicide for each other. If this isn’t fate, what is? TC

  6. Text-to-Text Connection: Finding Nemo • Marlin loses Nemo and goes on a crazy quest to find him. Before he starts his journey to find his son, he meets Dory where she agrees to help Marlin find Nemo. They encounter so many things, but swim all the way to Australia and find Nemo. GA

  7. Grace’s Text-to-Self Connection • A few years ago, my dad was diagnosed with skin cancer. He had a tiny scab on his cheek that wouldn’t heal. He had to get it surgically removed and it took a couple of weeks to heal. GA
