What you can’t sell on eBay • Items that are illegal or that encourage illegal activity (banned weapons, drugs, etc.) • Items that are racially or ethnically inappropriate. • Services that are illegal, sexual in nature or that violate eBay’s User Agreement • Listings with counterfeit or bootleg items (counterfeits, replicas and unauthorized copies) • Selling perishable goods such as fruit, vegetables and meat • Selling Beer or hard liquor (Wine and some spirits are allowed)

  4. What you need • A valid e-mail address (if you use webmail you may need to give more information) • A credit card • A PayPal account • Although not a requirement it is the primary means of transaction on eBay • Stuff to sell

  5. PayPal • Used to send and receive electronic payments • Primary form of payment for items on eBay • Must be registered separately from eBay • If you want to receive payments using PayPal it is recommended to get a verified account • Receives payments using direct deposit to a checking account

  6. What does it cost? There are two charges for selling on eBay • Insertion Fee is charged when you create a listing • If an item does not sell the first time you will have to pay again to relist the item, however if the item sells the second time you are refunded the first Insertion Fee • Final Value Fee is charged when you successfully sell an item • If an item doesn’t sell you are not charged a Final Value Fee, however you are still charged the insertion fee PayPal has separate fees for receiving payments from credit cards

  10. Selling Cars There is no Final Value Fee for selling autos, however there is a fixed Transaction Fee.
