This article discusses SPC's initiatives to assist Pacific Island Countries (PICs) in putting together their energy balance by providing data on energy supply and demand, supporting energy policy and strategy development, and fostering collaboration and coordination among data providers in the region.

Challenges to data collection • Getting the data providers to be accustomed to providing the requested information – improves with time • Populating templates provided to data providers – difficult to understand, additional work, not directed by the immediate boss, • Sensitive nature of data - trust issues is sharing data • Capacity of Energy office in county - Coordination, collaboration, legislation
