Introduction • Community Based Organization (CBO): means an organization whose primary objective is to conserve resources in a manner that facilitates the sustainable utilization of the resources by and for benefits of local community members ordinary resident in the resource area. • Wildlife management area (WMA): means an area declared by the Minister to be so and set aside by the village government for the purpose of biological natural resource conservation

LODGE THE APPLICATION. • An application to be an Authorized Association (AA) is done by a Community Based Organization (CBO) and shall concurrently operate as an application for designating a WMA under Regulation 13. (which is concern with Declaration of a Wildlife Management Area). THE WILDLIFE CONSERVATION (WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREAS) REGULATIONS, 2012.

  4. Requirements of CBO to manage a WMA • 1. Registering the CBO under the Societies Ordinance, Cap. 337. (An Act to provide for the registration of societies and for other related matters.)

  5. 2. Registering Trustees of the CBO under the Trustees Incorporation Ordinance, Cap. 375. (which is provided by RITA (Registration ,Insolvency and Trusteeship Agency.)

  6. Cont.. 3. Submitting an application to the Director for authorization to manage a WMA. 4. Lodging an application to the Director. 5. Copying the application to the relevant District Council.

  7. The application should be accompanied by the following documents: • Minutes of the Village Assembly meeting. • Wildlife Management Area Data Sheet under the second schedule. • CBO’s Certificate of Registration. • CBO’s Constitution. • Land Use Plan. • sketch map of the proposed WMA. • Boundary description of the proposed WMA. • A copy of the General Management Plan

  8. THE APPROVAL PROCESS 1. On receiving the application, the Director will recommend to the Minister a CBO that qualifies to be declared an Authorized Association to manage the WMA. 2. The Minister shall then issue a Certificate of Authorization to the CBO in accordance with Regulation 16 (2) Application of laws relating to land. 3. The Declaration of the CBO as an Authorized Association shall be published in the Gazette.
