Extension Activity Let’s Review What would be another way to compare fractions, other than using number lines?
Extension Activity Let’s Review Ordering Fractions Each student needs a set of fraction bars to help them during the game. The teacher begins by writing 12 fractions on large index cards (1 fraction per card), and telling students it is there job to put the fractions in order from least to greatest. Write a number line on the board for students to see. Show the cards one at a time to the students, while asking them where it belongs on the line. When the students answer correctly, place the card in the appropriate place on the board.
Extension Activity Let’s Review Draw a stack of 5 number lines on your paper. Each number line should have the points 0 and 2 on it. On the top number line, figure out where 1 is. On the next one, chart 1/2. On the third line, find 1/4. What do you notice about the pattern? Now find 3/2 and put it on the fourth line. Place 5/4 on the fifth line. How does the last two lines compare to the others? 2 2 2 2 2
