The Arlington National Cemetery is a famous U.S.A cemetery and it honors men and women who served in war.
Arlington National Cemetary The Arlington National Cemetery is in Washington D.C. There are more then 290,000 people buried there. One person who is buried there is Pierre L’ Enfant. The cemetery is longer then 600 football fields.
The Capitol is a symbol of American democracy and self- government.
Capitol • People began working on the Capitol in 1793. They started digging foundations for the Capitol in August 1793. By the 1800s the North Wing was almost complete except some rooms on the third floor. Air conditioning was installed in 1929. The dome was finished in 1863. It is 287 feet tall, 751 feet long, and 350 feet wide. You can find the Capitol in Washington D.C.
The Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial is a symbol of the United States because he showed respect for us and we will show respect for him.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial • His words gave us hope because he was a caring man. When he died lots of people came to his funeral. He was elected for president for the United States of America. In the first room of the memorial it is full of hope. • In the second room it is grim because it shows men waiting for food. In the third room it is loud and rough, and in the forth room it is quiet and peaceful.
Gateway Arch • The Gateway Arch is 360 feet tall. It is located near the Mississippi River in St. Louis, Missouri. Did you know it’s as tall as a 63- story building? The Gateway Arch is white. The foundation is 60 feet deep. The Arch has 142 steel sections. It weighs 17,246 tons wow! It is the tallest monument in the United States of America. Did you know that the Gateway Arch is twice as tall as the Statue of Liberty? It cost 13 million dollars to build! It took 2 ½ years to build. Lightning strikes it hundreds of times a year. Eero Saarinen designed the Gateway Arch.
Golden Gate Bridge • The Golden Gate Bridge is 8,981 feet long. The Golden Gate Bridge is dark red. It needed a lot of wire. My symbol is 746 feet. The Golden Gate Bridge was finished in 1935. About 600,000 rivets hold this bridge. The Bridge has cells about 35 feet.
Hoover Dam Hoover Dam’s weight is 6,600,000 tons. It has enough concrete to build a highway from San Francisco, California to New York. Hoover Dam is 1,244 feet. It’s power plant produces enough energy to power 500,000 homes. It is 3 times taller than the Statue of Liberty. When they were building the dam some columns were 60 feet wide. There is a lake near Hoover Dam. Lake Mead it’s used mostly for water sports. Hoover Dam spans 1,244 feet into the Block Canyon. It was named after Clark Herbert Hoover.
Hoover Dam is another great achievement of American resourcefulness, skill, and determination.
Independence Hall is a symbol for the United States because they filed taxes.
Independence Hall The Independence Hall is in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is 500 feet tall. It is a two-story, brick building with a clock and steeple. They also filed taxes there. The Independence Hall also had the Liberty Bell.
The Jefferson Memorial is a important symbol to America because it honors him for helping America.
The Jefferson Memorial is in Washington D. C. The Jefferson Memorial is white, it has a round dome, and it also has 54 columns. The construction started in 1939,the construction ended on April 13, 1943. Jefferson’s words are carved into the walls his words go like this: God who gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of god? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that god is just. That his justice cannot sleep forever. Commerce between master and slave is despotism. Nothing is more certainly written in the book of fate than these people are to be free. Establish the law for educating the common people. This is it the business of the state to effect and on a general plan. Here are interesting facts about the memorial. The Jefferson Memorial weighs the amount of 5,800 African elephants. It is directly south of the White House. The statue of Thomas Jefferson is 19 ft. tall.
It is a important symbol to the United States of America because President Lincoln freed the slaves and he was the 16 president.
The Lincoln Memorial By Cheyanne Jackson T he Lincoln Memorial symbol is white. It is 44 feet tall and 7 feet across. Mr. Lincoln is made of dry clay. He is brown or orange when the light hits him. The Lincoln Memorial was approved in Feb. 28 1996.The man that made Mr. Lincoln was not an artist .

The rocket ships have 6 layers. Sputnik 1 was the very first satellite sent to space. The Soviet Union was in the cold war. Captain Gus Grissom is the leader of the NASA.

The Star Spangled Banner is a special poem that Francis Scott Key wrote, he wrote his feelings on a piece of paper and put it in his pocket.
Star Spangled Banner The Star Spangled Banner was written in Baltimore Harbor by Francis Scott Key. It was written on Sept. 13, 1814 during the British War on a warship. The Star Spangled Banner was turned into the National Anthem on March 3, 1931.
The American Eagle The America Eagle’s wing span is 8 feet. It has a white crown and tail feathers. The eagle has a sharp, yellow beak. It is covered in brown feathers. The American Eagle has 4 talons (claws) on each foot. This bird eats carrion (dead animals). The bald eagle is another name for this animal.
The American Flag is a symbol of freedom. The flag stands for land, people, and government.
Description of the American Flag There are 13 red and white stripes on the American Flag. The stripes stand for the thirteen colonies. It has a blue background. The red stripes stand for courage, the white stand for purity or goodness, and the blue background stands for justice. After the World War I and II were over they started adding states and the American Flag has 50 stars on it now. Did you know that before they used cloth they used wood, stone, metal, and animal skins? They did!
The Great Seal is a symbol of the United States because it is used on all official documents and treaties.
Great Seal of the United States • The dollar had 2 eagles on the back of it. The dollar had a thirteen layer pyramid .July 4, 1776 was when the final design was adopted. There are two circles on the back of it. The eagle had a ribbon in its mouth . The United States is across its chest . The Great Seal is a round piece of metal.
