The alpine biome is located mostly in the Rocky, Andes, and Himalayan mountain ranges.
They are found in areas over 10,000 feet and are cold, snowy regions. Few plants and animals live here. The summer temperature ranges from 50 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit. In winter, It is almost always below freezing. The average precipitation is 11 inches.
There are only about 200 species of plants in the alpine. Bear grass and wild potato are common.
Many animals live in the Alpine. Most have a large fur coat to prevent heat from escaping along with short limbs. Alpacas and llamas live here along with chinchillas and snow leopards
