FY 2003-2004 Annual Transit Performance Report (APTR) • Prepared annually by Valley Metro/RPTA • Evaluates region’s transit services in FY 2003 and identifies operating and capital improvements for FY 2004 • Local jurisdictions provide input and review draft reports
FY 2003-2004 Annual Transit Performance Report (APTR) • The APTR provides input into the Valley Metro/RPTA Long Range Transit Plan and the MAG Regional Transportation Plan • APTR is used by Valley Metro/RPTA and the local jurisdictions in the evaluation of existing transit service and planning of new transit service • The APTR demonstrates Valley Metro/RPTA commitment to performance based planning.
GeneralHighlights • System Total: • Total transit ridership increased 11 percent by • 5.2 million boardings, to over 52 million • Passenger Revenue increased by over 7 • percent to $29.7 million • Operating Expenses increased by over 12 • percent or $16.4 million
General Highlights (continued) • System Total: • Operating Cost per Revenue Hour and • Revenue Mile increased by over four percent • Boardings per Revenue Hour and Revenue • Mile increased by over three percent
Selected Transit Accomplishments: FY 2003 • City of Avondale hired consultant to develop 10-year transit plan • Glendale continued to enhance local bus service as part of their November 2001 sales tax referendum • Mesa opened a new transit operations and maintenance facility • Peoria developed new a Park-n-Ride lot
Selected Transit Accomplishments (Continued) • Phoenix increased service on several routes • Phoenix opened the Ed Pastor Transit Center • Phoenix upgraded Deer Valley and 79th Ave. Park-n-Rides and Desert Sky Transit Center • Phoenix completed work on new Park-n-Rides at Bell Rd./SR-51 & Pecos/40th St.
Selected Transit Accomplishments (Continued) • Scottsdale completed location study for new Park-n-Ride lot • Tempe started pre-design of operations and maintenance facility in Tempe • Phoenix, Tempe, and Mesa continued participation in the Central Phoenix/East Valley Light Rail Project
Selected Transit Accomplishments (Continued) • Valley Metro/RPTA completed the regional transit system study, a comprehensive analysis of the region’s transit operations and infrastructure needs. • Valley Metro/RPTA participated as a sponsor entity for initiation of the Vehicle Management System (a comprehensive vehicle telecommunications upgrade).
Selected Transit Objectives: FY 2004 • Avondale will develop, finalize and gain approval of 10 year transit plan as part of being designated a small urbanized area. • Phoenix will implement new I-17 RAPID and delete Express Route 580 and 591. • Phoenix will implement new I-10 West RAPID and delete Express Route 561. • Glendale implemented new Grand Limited Service which replaces the Yellow Line. • Glendale implemented a new Route 51- 51st Avenue service.
