  2. GRADE 10 CPP CPP Grade 11 IB 1 CPP Grade 12 IB 2 Freshman All universities Sophomore Local and some foreign universities

  3. College Preparatory Academic Program 10th Grade *Students will be taking art during one semester and music during the second semester. **A grade of 65 is required in math for IB math studies (IB DP) A grade of 70 is required in math for IB math SL (IB DP)

  4. Students in Grade 10 CPP can opt for either • Grade 11, International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IB DP) or • Grade 11, College Preparatory Program (CPP)

  5. Promotion to Grade 11- IB DP 1. Students are promoted tothe first year of IB DPif they obtain: • Approval of the Admission’s Committee • A yearly general average not less than 77 and a grade of not less than 75 in English • No grade less than 60 in any subject • Fulfilled a pre-CAS requirement of 30 hours Selection of 2nd Language Level (Arabic and/or French) depends on two criteria:1- Current level in the Grade 10 CPP class (Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced)2- Placement Test (Verbal and Written)

  6. Promotion to Grade 11-CPP 2. Students are promoted to Grade 11 CPP if they: • Obtain a general average of 70 and above • Meet the above minimum requirements • Fulfill a pre-CAS requirement of 30 hours

  7. SUPPORT SERVICES : • Psychological Support: The class advisor and school psychologist are available to guarantee the necessary support. If the student suffers from any specific adjustment difficulty, the school psychologist is available for support and regular follow up.   8. b) Academic Support: If your child faces academic difficulties in one or more subjects, reinforcement classes will be offered. His/her advisor or teacher will invite you to a conference to communicate the difficulties and explore possible solutions.C) Medical Support: During the year, if any medical condition arises, the administration, school physician and nurse will be in constant communication with you . If your child suffers from any prolonged medical condition, a medical report is required. All confidential information is kept with the administration. SUPPORT SERVICES (cont.)

How Does IC Prepare its students for University Studies • SAT 1. 5th & 2nde Class: • At the beginning of the year, the studentssit for a PSAT exam • The English teacher trains students for their SAT (1 period per week) 2. 6th & 1ère class: • IC in collaboration with AMIDEAST organizes SAT sessions in English and Math during the course of the year • The English teacher trains students for their SAT (1 period per week) 3.   10. How Does IC Prepare its students for University Studies (cont’d) B. Career Guidance • Mrs. Mona Shbaklo, Dean of Students is responsible for orienting students towards local universities (AUB, LAU, USJ….). Through out the year, guest speakers are invited from the various majors at these universities to give an orientation session about the majors concerned. • Mrs. Randa Soubeih, ForeignColleges’ Councelloris responsible for orienting students towards foreign English speaking universities. She arranges for meetings with speakers from these universities. These orientation sessions are announced on our IC website.

EXAMS & GRADE REPORTING November 20 : First progress report November 25: Parent–Teacher meeting January 20-24: Semester I examinations (Mid-year exams) February 11 : Semester 1 report sheets April 16 : Second progress report (tentative date) Week of June 23-27 : Semester 2 examinations (Final exams) July 4 : Annual Report Sheets Semester I September 2013 – January 2014 Ends with the Mid Year cumulative exams Semester II February 2014 – June 2014 Ends with the Final Year cumulative exams

  14. SAT I + School transcript of record for grades 10 & 11 • THE COMPOSITE SCORE (CS) and how it is generated by AUB • Composite Score=50% SAT I + 50% school grades = (Critical reading + mathematical reasoning) + Grade 10 + Grade 11

  15. AUB follows a scale of 800School grades from grade 10 and grade 11 are converted to a scale of 800How is this done ?

  16. If a student is above school average he will get above 500/800 If a student is below school average he gets below 500/800

  17. AUB takes the average of the IC students applying this year Every student who gets the average of IC students is automatically granted 500/800

  18. Every student is compared only against the group applying from his school • This means that if the students’ average in school X is 90/100, the student who gets a 90 gets a 500/800 on the AUB scale . • If IC students get an average of 75 /100 then the IC student who gets a 75 gets a 500/800. • Conclusion : a 90 from another school is the same as a 75 from IC.
