Overview • Tour of non-government organization(NGOs) : • Women self-help groups, agriculture • Colaborated with Indian Extension Services • Conducted Participatory Rural Appraisal(PRA) of Villages • Conducted 24 hours dietary recalls • Developed needs/ preference- based nutrition/ health education programs • Provided nutrition/ health education to villages

Tour Of Non-Government Organizations/ Self Help Groups • -Organizations formed by people with a common problems or situations, for the betterment of the communities • Women Self Help Group: “AWAKE” • Community Service Organization: “People Trust” • Nursing and Medical Outreach: “Nightingale” • Free School Meal Plans: “AdamyaChetana”

  4. Participatory Rural Appraisal(PRA) • Developed assessment questions during preparatory class • Trained in-country on PRA techniques • Social Mapping • Historical Timeline • Transect • Conducted 24-hour dietary recalls • Nutrition information presentation back to the community.

  6. Health Education Programs • Developed different education programs based on different needs and age groups • Older Adults • Pregnant Women • Child Nutrition • Hygiene • Nutrition based health education programs • Provided nutrition or health education to villages

Health Education Programs • Older Adults Nutrition: • Talked about nutrition needs in older adults using My Plate diagram • Child Nutrition: • Wrote and read a story about the need to empty their plates at every meals • Nutrition during pregnancy: • - Cooking demonstration to encourage pregnant women increase iron consumption during pregnancy • Hygiene: • - Game of scenarios to inform the importance of hand washing • Created a hand-washing song in Kanada Language • Practiced proper hand washing techniques

Knowledge about the relationships between agriculture, nutrition and business in India • Knows more about the efforts of NGOs and Self-Help Groups in betterment of the Indian communities • Cultural Experiences (Food, the Mass Wedding, Visitation to historical places, etc.) • Friendships  • Self-seeking process and self-improvements Attainment
