  4. The old town of Tallinn, a historic Hanseatic town called Reval, the capital of Estonia is one of the world's best saved medieval architectural example, UNESCO's World Heritage site since 1997.

  6. ToompeaCastle aka "The Danish castle" is a castle on the limestone hill of Toompea in the central part of Tallinn. It was also one of the names for the whole settlement of Tallinn during the times of Danish Estonia in 13th and 14th centuries.

  7. The first wooden castle was built on the hill in either the 10th or 11th century by residents of the ancient Estonian county of Rävala. It was probably one of the first inhabited areas of what later became Tallinn.

  9. Hermann Castle is in Narva. It is located on the Estonian-Russian border.

  10. The castle was originally built in 1256 by Danes first in wood, and then in stone in the beginning of the 14th century. The castle changed hands several times over the centuries. It belonged to the Danes, then Russians, the Swedes, and then the Russians once more before being turned over to Estonia. The castle now houses the Narva Museum.

  11. The German Livonian Teutonic knights order purchased the castle on 29 August 1346 and for most of its history the castle was German Teutonic.

  12. The Tallinn Town Hall is a building in the Tallinn Old Town, beside Town Hall Square. It is the only gothic style town hall in the Northern Europe.

  13. The first recorded mention of the Town Hall dates from 1322. Its present form dates from 1402-1404, when the building was rebuilt. The spire was destroyed in an aerial bombing on March 9, 1944. It was rebuilt in 1950.

  14. Saint. Olaf’s church in Tallinn, is believed to have been built in the 12th century and to have been the centre for old Tallinn's Scandinavian community prior to the conquest of Tallinn by Denmark in 1219. Its dedication relates to King Olaf II of Norway.

  15. The first known written records referring to the church date back to 1267, and it was extensively rebuilt during the 14th century.

  16. The legend of Saint Olaf's church A legend tells that the builder of the church, named Olaf fell from the tower of this church. It is said that when his body hit the ground, a snake and a toad crawled out of his mouth. There is a wall carving depicting this event in the Chapel of Our Lady.

  17. Kadriorg Palace is a Baroque palace in Tallinn, Estonia.

  18. It was built after the Great Northern War.

  19. In the 20th century the Estonian version of the name Kadriorg gained its popularity.

  20. The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Tallinn is an example of Russian Revival style from the 19th century when Estonia was a governorate of Russian Empire.

  21. The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is an orthodox cathedral in the Tallinn Old Town, Estonia. It was designed by Mikhail Preobrazhensky in a typical Russian Revival style between 1894 and 1900, during the period when the country was part of the Russian Empire.
