Starter • Family fortunes based on Nazi Youth groups. • Complete the DART exercise prepared by the person sitting next to you. FFT A+ - try without access to notes. • (LC) Mark the other person’s answers. Give them a target in terms of any gaps in knowledge.
Main 1 • Read and/or complete the educational exercise prepared by somebody else. • What is it asking you to do? (D/E) • Why? (C/B) • What success may it have had? Depends on? (A/A*)
Main 2 • Were Youth groups used in the same way as schools? • Students analyse youth posters (p available, plus source B, p.77 and poster p.69 of NTB; s8,10 on p.133 of OTB) to begin to answer the LO. At least one per pair. • (LC) Feedback using visualiser. Comment on differences between boys and girls.
Main 3 • Develop your responses by finding out what activities the youth of Germany got up to from 1933-45. • Visual learners or those needing to push themselves on this aspect of learning – analyse sources 2-9 p.132-133. FFT B+ must explain the purpose behind the activity. • Others can read the fictitious diary entries on p130-1 to find out types of activity (and purpose for FFT B+) • (LC) Q & A. Discussion. Stand up if agree.
Homework • Complete visual or reading task on Youth Group activities not already done. • Investigation (for A/A*) Read sources E and F from Hindsight sheet, p77-9 of NTB and analyse source 1 on p.130 from OTB to answer how successful the Nazis were in influencing the young.
