What is a Noble? • People from rich and powerful families • Key government officials and priests. • Upper class
Farmers, Servants, and Slaves Scribes and Craftspeople • Seen as lower class • Made up 80% of the population. • Built projects for Pharaohs. • Scribes wrote • Craftspeople made and produced goods. Seen as middle class.
Trade • Traded with Nubia (south of Egypt)-gold, ivory, slaves, and stone • Sumerian designs found in Egyptian art. • Egypt pottery reflects styles from Nubia • Punt- on the Red Sea- incense and myrrh used to make perfume and medicine • Syria-wood
Gods • Sun god- Re, or Amon-re • God of underworld- Osiris • Goddess of magic-Isis • Sky god & god of Pharaoh-Horus
