  2. Islam Origins: • Founded in Saudi Arabia around 622 AD • Founded by Muhammad • Believed in one god, Allah • “Islam” = submission to god (the religion) • “Muslim” = a person who submits to god (the people)

  4. Islam Origins: • Muhammad • Lived life as a trader • Would often retreat to a mtn near Mecca to pray & meditate • In 610, Muhammad had a vision of the Angel Gabriel giving him the word of god
