LEADERSHIP. Leadership is the process of influencing the activities of an individual or a group to achieve a common goal. A leader has the ability to lead the individual or group towards that goal and to take into account the situation.

  1. LEADERSHIP Leadership is the process of influencing the activities of an individual or a group to achieve a common goal. A leader has the ability to lead the individual or group towards that goal and to take into account the situation.

  2. He was an prominent leader in the African-Americancivil rights movement. His main legacy was to secure progress on civil rights in the United States and he is frequently referenced as a human rights icon today. Martin Luther King, Jr.

  3. He was the pre-eminent political leader of India during the Indian independence movement. across the world. He is officially honoured in India as the Father of the Nation. After assuming leadership of the Indian National Congress in 1921, Gandhi led nationwide campaigns to ease poverty, expand women's rights, build religious and ethnic amity, end untouchability, and increase economic self-reliance. As a practitioner of ahimsa, he swore to speak the truth and advocated that others do the same. GHANDI

  4. He is a former President of South Africa, the first to be elected in a fully representative democratic election, who held office from 1994–99. Before his presidency, Mandela was an anti- apartheid activist, and the leader of the African National Congress's armed wing Umkhonto we Sizwe. Following his release from prison on 11 February 1990, Mandela supported reconciliation and negotiation, and helped lead the transition towards multi-racial democracy in South Africa. Since the end of apartheid, many have frequently praised Mandela, including former opponents. Mandela has received more than one hundred awards over four decades, most notably the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993. NELSON MANDELA

  6. AUTOCRATIC LEADER • Tells others what to do. • Limits discussions on ideas and new ways of doing things • Group does not experience feeling of teamwork

  7. DEMOCRATIC LEADER • Involves group members in planning and carrying out activities • Leader asks before tells • Promotes a sense of teamwork

  8. LAISSEZ-FAIRE • Gives little or no direction to group/individuals • Leader’s opinion is offered only when requested • A person does not seem to be in charge

  10. Know and use all available resources: Resources can be things in the environment that will help the leader and followers achieve their goals. People are resources as well, and many goals are achieved by asking the people in the group for input

  11. Communicate: Leaders will constantly get and give information. Successful leaders do both of these well

  12. Plan: A successful leader will plan in detail every aspect of the process of achieving the group’s goals

  13. Stamp out negative behaviour: Negative behaviour will prevent a group from achieving its goals. A good leader will stop any negative behaviour when it happens

  14. Be part of the group: A leader is till part of the team that is striving to achieve its goals. A leader is not separate form the group

  15. Evaluate: It is important to evaluate or assess the performance of everyone in the group. This will ensure that the goals will be met with the most efficiency

  16. Delegate: A successful leader will delegate tasks and activities fairly to the group to achieve the goals.
