MiCTA History • 1982 MiCTA formed • 1989 AT&T awarded first contract for Voice Services • 1991 MiCTA develops video network with Sprint and others • 1995 MiCTA partners with Midwestern Higher Education Compact to provide telecom services throughout Midwest • 1996 MiCTA opens membership to all non profit nationwide • 1998 MiCTA / MHEC issue first national RFP for telecom services • Qwest receives endorsement for voice / internet services • Sprint receives endorsement for video network service • 1999 MiCTA collaborates with ACUTA • 2000 Sprint receives endorsement for converged network service • 2002 Sprint PCS receives approval for cellular service • 2003 Video integration services RFP issued • 2004 Telecommunications and Internet services RFP issued • 2005 Learning management systems RFP issued

  4. Local Telephone Service • McLeodUSA has Approved Awards for Local Telephone Service • MiCTA Members can save up to 30% off of Regular Rate Plans • McLeodUSA offers Measured Service-unlimited calling on plans as opposed to competitor’s rates of 4 to 9 cents per call

  5. Long Distance • There are currently long distance programs with Qwest, Sprint, MCI, and MCLeodUSA • Pricing Contingencies: • Term commitments (Month-to-Month, 1-yr, 2-yr, 3-yr) • Switched vs. Dedicated • Volume of Commitment

  6. Long Distance We are in the contract phase for new pricing, but expect to achieve the following rates for standard T-1 pricing: On-On 1.35¢ - 1.80¢ per minute On-Off 1.35¢ - 2.40¢ per minute Off-Off 1.80¢ - 3.56¢ per minute

  7. CLEC Services • There are currently awards for CLEC services with Qwest, Sprint, MCI and McLeodUSA. • To date there is an agreement with McLeodUSA for an Approved Award.

  8. CLEC Services Considerations • Footprint of CLEC • Pricing generally much better than incumbent LEC • Feature enriched packages • Further discounts for CLEC services and long distance services are bundled

  9. Cellular Services Offer 1 Corporate Liable Accounts for Nonprofit organizations are coterminous-and offer members a 15% discount on 7 select calling plans. Members can also take advantage of: • 20% Added Minutes • Free PCS to PCS Calling on All Plans • 7 PM Night and Weekends Employees of Nonprofit organizations receive a 10% discount on all PCS Employee Liable Plans with additional benefits: • Free PCS to PCS Calling • Nights and Weekends Beginning at 9 PM

  10. Corporate Liable accounts of Government & Public Education members are Coterminous PCS Agreements-Organizations can receive a 24% discount on all plans. All Employees of Government and Public Education are eligible to receive a 14% discount on any Employee Liable calling plans. Cellular Services Offer 2 • Both Plans Also Offer: • -Unlimited PCS to PCS Calling • -Unlimited Night and Weekends Starting at 9 PM • -Pertains to all PCS Plans

IP Services • There are currently awards for IP services with Qwest, Sprint, MCI, and VSGi. • To date there is an agreement with VSGi for an Approved Award to provide H.323 Video Transport. • We are in the contract phase with other providers. Offers include bandwidth up to OC-48, frame relay and ATM.

  12. IP Services • Pricing is very competitive. Best solution for members will be dependant upon • Service needs • Customer location • Term commitment • Some anticipated results are: • T-1 Flat Rate: $205 - $260 per month • Tiered T-1: $70 - $125 per port • Burstable T-1: $30 - $80 per Mbps

Greater discounts on volume purchases
