1st Battalion (Airborne) 509th Infantry Task: Prescribe wear and appearance of the Army Green Dress Uniform and the Army Blue Uniform for Enlisted Soldiers. Condition: Classroom environment with either uniform on a hanger. Standards: Correctly assemble and wear either uniform in accordance with Army regulations.
1st Battalion (Airborne) 509th Infantry The Army Green Dress Uniform When the Class A Service Uniform is worn with the white shirt and black bow tie, it becomes the Army Green Dress Uniform. When worn as the Green Dress Uniform, the rules regarding what can be worn change:

1st Battalion (Airborne) 509th Infantry • Items not authorized for wear: • Bloused Jump boots • Airborne Background Trimming • Spurs • Cowboy hats • Distinctive items for Military Police • Berets (after retreat) • Combat Leaders Identification (green tabs) • Marksmanship badges awarded by other U.S. services • Distinctive Unit Insignia (DUI) • Dress Miniature Medals • SGT Audie Murphy badge, St. Maurice, St. Barber, etc., other civic and quasi-military society awards are worn only when attending a meeting or function of that organization or society

1st Battalion (Airborne) 509th Infantry Wearing Decorations and Service Ribbons Ribbons worn above the left breast pocket in order of precedence starting at the top right. Worn up to 1/8” between rows and above pocket flap. Up to 4 ribbons can be worn on each row depending on size of the pocket flap. For proper order of precedence, see AR 670-1, page 274-275.

1st Battalion (Airborne) 509th Infantry Combat and Special Skill Badges and Tabs; Rules: Rule 1: You can wear up to five combat and special skill badges at one time; this total does not include special skill tabs (Ranger, SF). Rule 2: You can wear only one badge each from groups 1,2, and 3, three badges from group 4 and two badges from group 5. The total number cannot exceed five badges Rule 3: You may wear up to three badges from groups 1 through 3 above the ribbons or pocket flap. Rule 4: When no badges from groups 1 through 3 are worn, you may wear three badges from groups 4 and 5 above the ribbons or pocket flap. Rule 5: When three badges are worn above the ribbons or pocket flap, you may wear three Badges (including marksmanship badges) on the pocket flap. Rule 6: There is no precedence for special skill badges within the same group. (Example: Parachutist badge, Air Assault, Pathfinder – neither has precedence over the other). However, there is precedence between the groups, I.e. Group 1 has precedence over group 2, and so forth. Rule 7: Combat badges take precedence over special skill badges (CIB over EIB).
1st Battalion (Airborne) 509th Infantry Marksmanship Badges; Rules: Rule 1: You may wear up to three marksmanship badges on the pocket flap. Rule 2: You may attach up to three clasps (bars) per marksmanship badge. Rule 3: Only a total of three marksmanship or special skill badges can be worn on the pocket flap. Rule 4: Marksmanship badges are worn in order of precedence from the wearer’s right and to the left of any special skill badges.

1st Battalion (Airborne) 509th Infantry Wearing Full-Size Decorations and Medals (continued) When wearing full-size medals, up to three full-size or miniature combat and special skill badges from groups 1-5 may be worn above the medals in order of group precedence. Up to three badges here Driver and mechanic badges are not worn with full size medals. Nothing worn on the pocket flap when full-size medals are worn.
