Identify and Rate Problem • Step 2 - Identify a specific issue where this is a problem ( ie. Failing or doing poorly on an upcoming Exam) • Step 3 - Rate how stressful it is when you think about the issue/situation, right now, on a scale from 0 to 10 (10 being the highest). Step 1 - Identify an emotional response or behavior that you would like to change
Fear I will blank out, freeze up, panic in Exam. Guilt I haven’t prepared enough Fear this will affect my future goals Worried I will disappoint my family/ teachers Fear of being embarrassed by my results Resentment at Government for having these exams Disappointed in myself for not being ready Create your own personal list and tap on each one as needed. Possible Aspects Related to Exam Anxiety ( you will get most benefit by being as specific as possible.
Develop a Setup Affirmation • Step 4 - Create a setup statement: • “Even though I feel __(emotion)________ about ..(your issue/person/situation) I deeply and completely accept myself” ie. I am worried I will do poorly; don’t know the material; I am angry they are putting us through this stress; don’t want to let my parents, teachers down; Etc…. • …and a reminder phrase (short version) ie. worried I will do poorly and let people down
Initial Round of Treatment • Step 5 - Set the Stage for EP to do its work: Hold the problem in mind and rub the lymphatic points (Chest Sore Spots), or alternatively tap the Karate Chop Points, while saying your full “Set Up Phrase” 3 times Eg: Even though I am worried I will do poorly, I deeply and completely accept myself • Step 6 - Tapping & 9 Gamut Procedure: While continuing to hold the problem in mind, perform the tapping sequence while saying the shorter “Reminder Phrase” and picturing the stressful scene. ie: worried I will do poorly and look bad

Step 7 – Checkout: Picture writing the exam, getting your results, hearing your teacher or family’s reaction etc. and then re-rate your emotional reactions to the Scene on a scale from 0 – 10. Use your thoughts/emotions for your next treatment layer
Step 8 - Adjustments for subsequent rounds (If the issue is the same -add the words “still” to the set up and reminder statements) Ex: even though I am still worried about failing the exam…..I deeply and completely accept myself Step 9 - Rub Chest Sore Spots or Karate Chop Points (using new Set-up Phrase) 3 times Step 10 - Tapping & 9 Gamut – using Reminder Phrase “still worried about exam” Subsequent Rounds

Step 11 - Check Stress Level Reduction, Rerate the Level of Stress 0 to 10 • Step 12 - Repeat steps 10 & 11 until the stress level is down near 0 • Note Other Aspects: If other aspects arise during the procedure note them for later work or add them in to your tapping comments. Repeat the above procedure for each separate aspect until the stress level for each is reduced to zero. Note that sometimes it is difficult to reduce the stress around the initial issue until work on one or more of the other aspects is completed (because they can block the stress reduction associated with the initial issue).
Aspects That Can Block Healing • If you have a basic worry about failing the exam, it could be held in place by a bigger worry – for example: not getting in to a specific course or University you desire. • Or perhaps your parents have threatened some kind of consequence if your exam grade is poor. The worry, anger or resentment about that could be a deeper issue. Be as clear and specific as you can about your worries as you tap and success will be greater!

Installing a Positive Statement Once your level of distress is down to a zero or 1/10, you can create a positive vision for yourself. Say your affirmation while you tap on the points of head and body to replace the negatives. Eg. I am happy to notice how calm and confident I feel as I work on this Exam; and perform at my very best.
