  1. #1 – Satan and the Supremacy of Christ Colossians 1:15-18

  2. Q1. So who is Satan and what does he do? • Tempter of Adam & Eve – he’s the origin of sin Revelation 12:9 The great dragon was hurled down -that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him. • Father of lies John 8:44He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

  3. Q1. So who is Satan and what does he do? • Tempter of Adam & Eve – he’s the origin of sin • Father of lies • Under God’s judgement 2 Peter 2:4 For…God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them into gloomy dungeons to be held for judgment

  4. Q2. How much power does Satan have? • Satan is called the “prince of this world” …but God is the Almighty 1 Peter 5:8-9 Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. 1Peter 4:19 …those who suffer according to God's will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.

  5. Q2. How much power does Satan have? • Satan is called the “prince of this world” …but God is the Almighty Deuteronomy 32:39 There is no god besides me. I put to death and I bring to life, I have wounded and I will heal, and no-one can deliver out of my hand.

  6. Q2. How much power does Satan have? • Satan is called the “prince of this world” …but God is the Almighty Job 1:12 The LORD said to Satan, "Very well, then, everything he has is in your hands, but on the man himself do not lay a finger." Job 42:11 All his brothers and sisters … comforted and consoled him over all the trouble the LORD had brought upon him.

  7. Q2. How much power does Satan have? • Satan is called the “prince of this world” …but God is the Almighty Luke 22:31-32 "Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers."

  8. Q2. How much power does Satan have? • Satan is called the “prince of this world” …but God is the Almighty 2 Corinthians 4:4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers… …God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. Satan is not the ultimate ruler, Almighty God is in control – so don’t be afraid.

  9. Q3. What is the future for Satan? 1 John 3:8 The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work • His kingdom has been plundered • Defeated but still alive – now but not yet.

  10. Q4. Why did God allow him to exist in the first place? Colossians 1:15-18 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. • Jesus is glorified in Satan’s destruction! Colossians 2:13-15 Having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

  11. Romans 8:38-39I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any evil powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
