  1. Psychological: Freud In “Eleven” Rachel’s desire is to take the sweater off, but her Ego makes her leave it on. The superego guides this decision. She doesn’t want the teacher to not like her, or the other students To not like her. She wants to be accepted and liked. The outside force causing her this painful struggle between id, ego and superego is: The teacher, the sweater, the other kids, Her own self-doubt, etc. So which causes her the most pain? This is where you find your argument. ________ causes Rachel the most pain. Next find the piece of text where it illustrates this pain the best. Then write a supporting sentence which talks about your thesis and tries to prove it. Embed two or three most important words from your most important quote into your supporting sentence Id = inner desire, child’s want Ego = conscious decision Superego = subconscious drive
