  2. Read and Infer: read about what a girl saw from her window as she traveled. For the first part of the ride, Maria saw tall buildings and crowds of people. Yet as they kept traveling, she was excited to see barns, cows and haystacks. What can you infer about the type of place where Maria’s trip began and where her family traveled next.

  3. Think: First Maria saw tall buildings and large crowds. I know you can find these in many cities. Then she saw barns and haystacks. I've seen those near farms in the country. You use details and your own knowledge to find out about Maria’s trip.

  4. You used a skill called making inferences or drawing conclusions. Details in the Text What I Already Know Inference/ Conclusion

  5. You Try!! A loud alarm was ringing. Lines of students and teachers walked out of the school. When the alarm stopped, everyone walked back inside. • Make and inference or draw a conclusions about what is happening in this situation. • How do you know this is happening, what details or clues helped you come up with this conclusion/inference?
