  3. Challenges: The Top 5 • No one wants change but a wet baby. • The greatest enemy of the better is the good, particularly if it costs less. • There are no proofs in math education. • When there are multiple solutions, no single answer is right. • There is more to education than mathematics.

  4. Converting Challenges to Stimuli • Math community now experienced as change agents. • Where we are is not “good enough.” • Number of people is growing. • Research base supports the effort. • Grappling with really hard problems.
