Office Referrals • What types of student problems do you or would you refer to the office? • Major issues- fighting, major disrespect, classroom disruputions, and when a child progresses up our feather chart to red feather.
Emergency Question • What is the procedure for dealing with a stranger with a gun? • Refer them to our emergency chart in our booklet/box….intruder on campus
Team question • Is there a team in your school to address school wide behavior supports systems? • Yes…we have a leadership team..they meet monthly
Are you on the team? • Yes or no. • If yes…the team will be asked… • Do you use data to make decisions? ( yes, swis) • Has your team taught/reviewed the program with staff this year? ( yes) • Who is the team leader/facilitator? ( IKP)
Student Questions • What are our school rules/expectations? • ( Hagood Eagles are Respectful, Responsible and Safe) • Have you received a positive feather since January of this year?
The Evaluator(s) will look for… • School climate • Expectations posted, defined and taught • Expectations rewarded..on going system • System for responding to discipline issues. • Monitoring and decision making ( team) • Management-principal support, school improvement plan, team in place and working • District level support
Our goal • The state expects at least an 80% overall score… • I think we’ll do much better….and am excited to show us off!
We’ve been encouraged…. • To apply for the state recognition process for PBIS… • To qualify..we’ll need a score of over 80%... • There is an application process which will be completed by the leadership team and shared with the faculty and staff • Due date is April 15th.
Bottom Line… • PBIS is working at Hagood Elementary School! • Much evidence to support it…( bus drivers, data, input) • We are in year two of what some believe is a five to eight year process. • We have room to grow and issues to address
