  6. Asia-The physical land • Highest/lowest points on earth • Mt. Everest and Dead Sea • Highest plateaus, largest deserts, longest rivers, largest forest, most earthquakes, hottest/coldest/driest climates!

  8. Population • China and India are the two largest countries in the world by population. China is number one with over 1.3 billion people. India is number two with over 1.2 billion. The third largest country in the world, the United States, only has just over 300 million people.

  9. Land • Asia is the only continent that shares borders with two other continents; Africa and Europe. It sometimes joins with a third continent, North America, in the winter by ice forming in the Bering Sea.

Tigris and Euphrates River • Tigris – 1146 miles, Euphrates – 1700 miles • Origins of both river is in the Armenian mountains and they empty into the Persian Gulf • Area between rivers has been made into canals for small boats and irrigation • Turkey has helped create a series of 22 dams and 19 hydroelectric plants along these two rivers • Area between the two rivers is refereed to as Mesopotamia

  26. Fertile Crescent • Include Israel, Lebanon, and parts of Jordan, Syria, Iraq, south-eastern Turkey and south-western Iran • The major rivers following through this are Jordan, Euphrates and Tigris • Has a vast history of human history

  27. Australia • World’s largest island and smallest continent • Once a part of Asia-25 million years ago broke off drifted south • How would this effect animal/plant life?
