  2. PowerPoint • How Not to Use PowerPoint by Teachertube.com

  3. How did they make that slide? Used hyperlink located under “Insert” Stone background template downloaded for free Used Teachertube Video Downloader to download the video (mpeg seems to work best for PowerPoint. then used “insert”/”movies and sounds”/”movie from file”/then chose the correct file. Inserted picture in the form of an animated clip art

Student PowerPoints • Students will generally make one of two types of presentations. • Oral Presentation – PowerPoint supports the presentation given to audience/class • Stand Alone Presentation – PowerPoint is the entire presentation • Corollary – Individual slides may be created for the purpose of connecting them into a large poster

Oral Presentation • Good oral PowerPoints presentations have: • Limited text – important points only • Thought provoking and relevant images • Careful use of animations (not this one) and transitions • Logic flow/organization • Good use of backgrounds/themes/font color and size/style (this font is 24 point) • Appropriate layout choices • Good grammar and spelling • Citations

Stand Alone Presentation • Good Stand Alone presentations have: • More text or narrations • Slide transitions but few, if any, custom animations unless they are timed • Thought provoking and relevant images • Logical flow/organization • Good use of backgrounds/themes/font color and size/style (this font is 24 point) • Appropriate layout choices • Good grammar and spelling • Citations

  7. Poster Slides Individual slides are created with images and text and printed in color. The printed slides are posted together to make a large poster.

  9. PowerPoint • Rubrics Hundreds of rubrics are available online. Just put “powerpoint rubric” into a search engine. Student PowerPoint presentations should be assessed by their peers You may want to give them a simpler rubric to score their peers.

  11. PowerPoint • What if students don’t have a computer or PowerPoint software? • Every student has access to computers and PowerPoint at every public library and in the Curie Media Center (7:30 am to 4:30 pm)
